I actually had necrotizing faciitis myself. I cut myself shaving for my wedding (not even kidding) and it got infected with Strep. They wanted to amputate my arm at the shoulder to stop the infection. I was in ICU for four days and everyone did have to gown up for that time. After that they were fine.

It's totally scary. I was in the hospital for a month and had therapy for my arm afterwards. But-- it's been 5 years and I have full use of my arm (just some numb areas). I got into surgery quickly and the infection never reached my muscle.

I'll be explaining Jensen's experience more in the next Chapter. I'm glad your friend ended up okay!!! It does not have a high survival rate... So that in itself is a blessing!!!
