Empathy

Showed this video in lecture today and it gave me goosebumps. Powerful message, not only to those who are in the medical field, but to everyone. You never know what the person beside you is going through and it's up to us to treat everyone with kindness and respect.

Always keep fighting. Always be kind.

We used to get shown vids like this in the care home, they always made an impact and they always illustrated what we don't see, someone's inner suffering and outward ability to mask it. Agreed, Empathy and kindness cost nothing! Especially in any caring profession, but in any walk of life!

It's so true! I guess the hospital my husband works at shows this video for every new hire at orientation, regardless of what department they work in. I think it's such an important message to show!!

I think it's fantastic that they do, so many people...you see the Sixty Minutes programs where people lose it with people who need person centred care, and you think to yourself, "These people depend on you, what the ever loving f*ck are you doing!"

Visiting Dad for the last time got me. I didn't know it was the last time.

I try really hard to remember that everyone's shoes have rocks in them. The rocks are shaped differently, and wear on different parts of a person's soul, but everybody's got rocks.

A smile or random act of kindness (or intentional act of kindness) goes a long way.
